He said, “Having observed that the Chairman of INEC is determined to rig the elections by making sure that results are not uploaded, by vehemently making a presentation that makes it look as if we are all here to rubber- stamp the fraud cooked between INEC and the APC, we are saying we are not here to rubberstamp the electoral fraud that have been prepared by INEC and the APC.

“We are Nigerians. There is nowhere on the server that results have been uploaded.

“The political parties here staged a walkout to express the unfortunate politicisation and commercialisation of our electoral process.”

Drama at collation centre as PDP’s Dino Melaye rejects Ekiti results, alleges over-voting | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News

There was a mild drama at the national Collation Center on Monday as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rejected the Presidential election result declared for Ekiti State, alleging over-voting.

The Drama began before the beginning of collation on Monday when a chieftain of the PDP, Senator Dino Melaye who is also the agent of the PDP raised an observation that the figures of results announced by the commission for Ekiti State do not correlate.

INEC had declared the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, winner of Ekiti State with 201,494 defeating his closest rival Abubakar Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 89, 554.

Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) polled 11,397 votes while Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) polled 264 votes; 1703 votes were canceled due to the bye-pass of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and over-voting.

But making his observation, Melaye, said after calculation done by the PDP, there was a discrepancy of an increase of 887 in the total number of figures from Ekiti State.

The agents of the Action Alliance, AA, and Labour party agreed with the observation made by Melaye

But INEC, chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu insisted that the commission stood by the result declared by the collation officer of Ekiti, Prof. Akeem Olawale Lasisi, who is the Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State.

“I still insist that the figure presented by the state collection officer for the presidential election for Ekiti state of the total number of accredited voters is 315,058. This is what is on the spreadsheet that we screened yesterday. And this is also what is on the actual result manual recorded by the scope and signed by the PDP agent and agents of other political parties back in Ekiti state.

“But having said that, I’ve taken note of your observations, let us make progress on that one. But what we have here is exactly what I’ve said. And any other figure that is at variance with this one cannot supersede the official result presented. let’s make progress.”

Dino Melaye Protests, Alleges Manipulation of Results At National Collation Centre, Seeks Cancellation Of Ekiti Presidential Election

]

The National Party Agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye and some other party agents have protested and demanded that the State Collation Officers should confirm that the results being presented at the National Collation Centre in Abuja were the same as the results that were uploaded on the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IREV).

Trouble started when the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu called on the Kwara State Returning Officer to make his presentation. It was at this point Melaye raised concern that there were a lot of discrepancies in the results from Ekiti State presented on Sunday.

He said it was discovered that the results presented on Sunday were at variance with the results declared at the polling units.

He, therefore, called on the INEC chairman to direct the Returning Officers to display and project the tabulation of the results they were presenting on the screen simultaneously to ensure transparency.

The situation led to an altercation and confusion in the hall as Melaye insisted that he would not sit at the collation centre and endorse the “fraud” that had allegedly been perfected at the ward and state levels.

Melaye also demanded the cancellation of Ekiti State presidential election results over alleged vote-buying. According to Melaye, the total number of votes cast exceeds the number of accredited votes.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress was earlier declared the winner of the presidential election in Ekiti State.

The INEC State Collation Officer for the Saturday’s presidential poll in Ekiti State, Prof. Akeem Lasisi, who announced the results, said the APC candidate polled a total of 201,494 votes across the state to defeat candidates of other parties.

His closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 89,554 votes while Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi garnered 11,397 votes.

The New Nigerian Peoples Party’s candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso polled 264 votes.

However, Melaye claimed that the result should be declared invalid for the alleged over-voting in the state.

He said, “Mr Chairman, I have a fundamental observation based on how proceedings went yesterday. Yesterday, we received results from Ekiti state and I worked on the result as presented yesterday and discovered that we have 987,647 registered voters in Ekiti, and 310,558 are accredited.

“And since we have 310,558 accredited, the result as presented yesterday, APC had 201,494, if you subtract that from 310,558, what you have left is 100,064, out of 100,064, PDP scored 89,554. If you subtract that from the balance of 100,064, what is left is 10,510, and now it was also recorded that Labour had 11,397 when the total number left is 10,510, leaving an over figure of 887, apart from this 887 surplus.”

“We have not calculated even the votes of other political parties because you will recall that they told us that ADC scored 1,037. So, you will see from that postulation and presentation yesterday that the figure did not add up. There was over-voting. The number of votes outweighs the number of the accredited votes and we know what exactly the law says concerning that. I move that should be considered because it cannot stand,” he added.

Yakubu later adjourned the results collation for one hour as party agents said they were coming up with their decision and standing on the observation they had raised.

Election result: Cancel Ekiti polls now – Dino Melaye to INEC

]

Former federal lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has challenged the result of the Ekiti State presidential election and wants it cancelled immediately.

Presenting his observation at the commencement of the collation of results at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Monday, Melaye, who is the agent of the Peoples Democratic Party, raised observations on alleged over-voting.

The Kogi State-born politician argued that the results as presented by the Ekiti State Presidential Election Collation Officer, Prof. Akeem Lasisi were incorrect and should be cancelled since the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has not declared the presidential results.

Dino Melaye said, “I have an observation from the result from Ekiti State. I worked on the results as presented yesterday and discovered we have 987, 647 registered voters and 301, 558 accredited voters. And since we have 301, 558 accredited voters in the results presented yesterday APC has 201, 494. If you subtract that 301, 558, you have 164, 000.

“Out of this 164,000, PDP scored 89,554 and if you subtract that from the balance of 164,000 what is left is 10, 510 and it was also recorded yesterday that Labour has 11, 397 when the total number left is 10,510 leaving an over figure of 887.

“Apart from this 887 surplus we’ve not calculated the results of the political parties because we recall that yesterday you told us that ADC scored 1087. So we will see that from that presentation yesterday, the figures do not add up. The number of votes outnumbers the accredited votes and we know exactly what the law says concerning that.”

Dino Melaye then moved for the result from Ekiti to be cancelled.
